Heirloom Spacemaster Cucumber (3g)

The Spacemaster Cucumber grows fruit close together on short vines and thrives in most growing regions.

These qualities make it a favorite for home gardens, as it can produce many fresh cucumbers without taking up a lot of space. Thus, its name: Spacemaster.

Start your own crop of 100% heirloom Spacemaster Cucumbers using open-pollinated cucumber seeds.

They come packaged in airtight, resealable packets so you can store them for over 5 years.

When you're ready to declare your food independence, buy Patriot Seeds!

Heirloom Spacemaster Cucumber Planting Instructions

  • Cucumbers do not transplant well, so it is best to direct sow the seeds.
  • Plant seeds in full sun, 1/2 inch deep and 3 inches apart, in groups of 4 to 6 plants per hill. Space the hills 3 to 4 feet apart.
  • When the plants are 1 to 2 inches tall, thin the seedlings to 3 per hill.
  • Cucumbers thrive in heat and are vulnerable to even light frost. If the temperatures drop, cover the seedlings.
  • Mulch to control weeds and retain moisture once the plants are established.

    Heirloom Spacemaster Cucumber Harvesting Instructions

Slicing cucumbers are ready for harvest when 6 to 8 inches long.

If you're harvesting cucumbers for pickling, the fruit should be 3 to 5 inches long.

Cucumbers are at their best—the most tender and flavorful—when they are harvested young, before their seeds fully develop.

Cut the fruit from the vine to avoid damaging the plant.

Did You Know This About Cucumbers?

It is generally believed that the first cucumbers grew in the Himalaya Mountains over 3,000 years ago.
